Entrepreneurship Specialist: “A Late Decision Is More Dangerous Than a Wrong One,” and There Is No Sustainability for Project “Hobbyists”

Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Asharqia Chamber Entrepreneurship Incubator, organized a meeting on “Keys to the Success of Small and Medium Enterprises,” presented by consultant and expert Sultan Basrawi, President of Madeed Company. The meeting reviewed a set of bold concepts of concern to the entrepreneur, most notably “the illusion of the beginning, the founder’s trap, and the risks of expansion,” in the presence of a notable number of interested parties and entrepreneurs.

Basrawi revealed to the attendees the “real keys” to the sustainability of projects, away from conventional theorizing. He also shed light on what he called the “founder’s trap,” where the project owner sometimes becomes the biggest obstacle to the growth of the establishment without realizing it, calling for the necessity of separating self-management from institutional requirements.

During the meeting, held at the Incubator’s headquarters in Asharqia Chamber Tower on the evening of Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Basrawi affirmed that the fundamental difference between a successful project and a passing hobby lies in the existence of a clear system and strict discipline, stressing that total reliance on the idea and individual intelligence without institutional structuring is a direct path to the failure of small and medium enterprises.

Basrawi warned during the meeting against the euphoria of strong beginnings, describing them as deceptive if they lack sustainability, and said that success is not merely an idea and intelligence, but a clear system and discipline. He described projects that lack a system as merely a “hobby” that will not withstand the challenges of the market.

Basrawi pointed to the importance of the entrepreneur possessing decision-making skills, noting that a late decision is more dangerous than a wrong decision, along with the need for full flexibility to face the reality of an unpaved market. He also drew attention to the importance of scrutinizing partnerships, affirming that the wrong partner costs the establishment more than the financial loss itself.

This meeting comes within a series of events organized by the Asharqia Chamber Entrepreneurship Incubator, with the aim of connecting the rising generation of entrepreneurs with successful national models and providing a fertile environment for exchanging experience and overcoming the operational obstacles that projects may face in their early stages. The Incubator seeks to enable projects to compete locally and globally by providing a high-quality entrepreneurial environment, raising the efficiency of incubated and interested entrepreneurs, building their capabilities, developing small and medium entrepreneurial projects, and enhancing their chances of success, so that business owners can develop and sustain their projects and achieve their goals.
