Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received the letter of the Federation of Saudi Chambers No. (45548562/19), dated (13/11/1447 AH), which states that the Federation received the letter of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases No. (21005563), dated (13/11/1447 AH), which refers to the Center’s follow-up telegram No. (21004057), dated (10/8/1448 AH), regarding the request to notify Saudi companies importing (vegetables and fruits) not to import any agricultural products from the two states (West Bengal and Kerala) due to the outbreak of the (Nipah) virus disease there. The Center advises that the epidemiological health situation in the two states referred to above has stabilized, and refers to what the Indian side has provided on the measures applied and the monitoring systems, which reflect a commitment to enhancing the safety of plant consignments and reducing the associated risks, in addition to a review of the updates issued by the World Health Organization.
The Federation advises of the resumption of receiving plant consignments arriving from the Republic of India in accordance with the procedures and requirements approved between the two countries, and in conformity with the provisions of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs).
