Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received an email from the Federation of Saudi Chambers dated (5/4/2026), referring to the Federation’s receipt of the letter of the Transport General Authority No. (1/47/5528), dated (16/16/1447 AH), which includes the Authority’s efforts to support the land freight transport sector, in light of the increased demand for land freight transport services as a result of the current situation. To ensure the continuity of the sector’s business, the Authority has worked on a number of initiatives aimed at enabling the sector and meeting the expected demand. The most prominent of these initiatives are permitting the operating life of a single vehicle or tractor unit used in the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for third parties) and the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the establishment’s own account) to be exceeded, and permitting establishments licensed in the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the establishment’s own account) to contract for the transport of goods for third parties.
Accordingly, Transport General Authority Board of Directors Decision No. (8/1/TR/4/2026), dated (7/10/1447 AH), corresponding to (26/3/2026), was issued permitting the operating life of a single vehicle or tractor unit used in the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for third parties) and the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the establishment’s own account) to be exceeded, provided that the operating life does not exceed (22) years from the vehicle’s date of manufacture, on an exceptional basis until (14/4/1448 AH), corresponding to (25/9/2026), and allowing service providers in the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the establishment’s own account) to contract for the transport of goods they do not own, subject to issuing a transport document for each shipment transported, on an exceptional basis until (14/4/1448 AH), corresponding to (25/9/2026).
