Dear Esteemed Chamber Subscribers,
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received the letter of the Federation of Saudi Chambers No. (45545125/20), dated (21/8/1447 AH), which refers to the telegram of the Weqaa Center No. (21004057), dated (10/8/1447 AH), concerning what has been observed on the platforms of international organizations regarding the outbreak of (Nipah) virus disease in the states of (West Bengal and Kerala) in the Republic of India, the recording of human cases of this disease, and the application by some countries of precautionary measures to prevent its transmission from the affected countries. (Fruit bats) are the natural reservoir of the virus, and one of the ways it spreads is the contamination of agricultural products with the secretions of infected bats, such as (saliva, urine, and feces).
At the Center’s request, the Federation hopes that Saudi companies importing (vegetables and fruits) will not import any agricultural products from the two states referred to above. You will be notified later when the epidemiological health situation in them stabilizes.
Please accept our sincere regards and appreciation.
