    Tuesday monthly meeting entitled:" Deaf Care"

    The Tuesday monthly meeting which took place in the chamber on Tuesday 7th June, 2010 has seen a comprehensive dialogue between the businessmen who attended the meeting, and the Eastern Deaf Club representatives (headed by the club chairman Nasser Al-Sahli, and the club honorary member Dr. Said Attiya Abu Ali) in the presence of a large number of club members and officials, meeting was entitled: (How to take care of this segment of society) and monitor it competencies to serve the nation.
     
    Many topics has been discussed through the meeting; most notably the establishment of a college for the Deaf, along with an advisory board of the community to serve the club in the eastern region.

     
    Discussion was run by Assistant Secretary-General of the Chamber for Public Relations and Media, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Fouzan Al-Humain, who affirmed that all social activities that find the support and care by the Chamber, and we hope to continue on this support.
     

     
    Furthermore; the club board director in the Eastern Region, Mr.Nasser Al-Sahli spoke in sign language about the reality of the deaf at the present time which has been greatly advanced until the opening of this club in 1421 H so they had to locate a place for their meetings.
     
    Al-Sahli added that Eastern Region include about 7-8 thousand people of deaf adults and children, women and men, whereas the Eastern Region includes 600 members, serving the eastern region as a whole.

    Turning to the services provided by the Deaf Club and most important cultural activities and sports, and teaching Arabic and English lessons, along with organizing Hajj and Umrah, and teaching some skills.

    For his part, the club honorary member dr. Said Abu Atiya said that dealing with deaf is a purely humanitarian action, comes within the government policies for the care of the disabled in general, and Hearing Impairment in particular. He praised the cooperation with the Eastern Chamber in this regard.
     
    In regard to the deaf club; Abu-Aa'li said: We are trying to reach new horizons in terms of organization and support services, as we seek to win this category of young people who love their country and committed to their religion and morals of their society.

    He revealed that the club is going to launch several campaign activities, and explained some of the obstacles which prevent achievement of the objectives of the club, noting that the biggest obstacle facing the club is the lack of a permanent location, as "The current location is temporary rented and the financial funding are not sufficient to support all activities and rewards.
     
    Moreover; Abu Ali mentioned that  the club serves the eastern region with many activities, religious, sports ,cultural, and social, and  the membership conditions requires an age not less than 14 years old , stressing out that the club is currently working on the employment of hearing-impaired, helping them to get married, and we were welcomed from the the Eastern Emara by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Prince of the Eastern Region, and his deputy, Prince Jlwi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaad.
     
    For their part; businessmen have welcomed the support of the deaf community as the chamber former member,Mr. Khalid Al-Abdulkarim has promised to organize an annual meeting to serve this group under the title (The deaf day).
