The Health Endowment Fund receives more than one billion riyals from national companies
The Executive Director of the Health Endowment Fund, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Haidari, stated that during the Corona crisis, the Fund received contributions exceeding one billion riyals, provided by 35 national companies, including 500 million energy companies, 160 million from banks and 67 million from insurance companies, while the field of individual contributions will be opened soon.
This came during a meeting of the Endowments Diwaniya organized by the Endowment Committee at the Asharqia Chamber yesterday, Wednesday 29/4/2020 and moderated by the journalist Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Mousa, and it was titled: "The Health Endowment Fund and its Role in Sustainable Health", as he explained that the Fund launched 10 initiatives to deal with a pandemic Corona, including Research and medical studies specialized in treating the Coronavirus worth 17 million riyals, delivery of medicines to patients who are unable to obtain them, providing alternative methods for dialysis patients, the deployment of mobile clinics in densely populated neighborhoods, supporting ambulance transport, supporting healthy volunteer activity, and providing Alternatives to Shepherds Home health.
He emphasized that the health endowment sector needs specialized people who deal with the sector professionally, such as its relationship with government institutions, private sector institutions, and community members, and the endowment role directed to the health sector in general, pointing out that the world today is experiencing a unique experience in the field of endowments directed to activities Health, It finds that the assets of some endowment institutions in countries like America and Britain are estimated in billions. The largest health endowment in Britain operates with a capital of up to 24 billion pounds, while the capital of endowment institutions in America ranges between 20 - 40 billion dollars, because of the conviction of such Orientation, so that 60-80% of primary health care institutions there are provided through non-profit institutions, behind which endowment institutions stand, and that about 3,000 non-profit hospitals are backed by endowment organizations.
On the other hand - Al-Haidari says - we are in the Kingdom despite our great legacy, and our society's love for charity, there is not - until now - a specialized endowment for the health field, despite the existence of endowment institutions with great experience, but they have general endowment services, therefore our experience is still modest in this side.
He stated that the priority at the current stage is to tackle the Corona crisis by focusing on it in the areas of exchange because the fund relies on 140 charities as partners in the field.
He mentioned that the fund is currently working on setting the general strategy, expected to be issued in the next few periods, pointing out that the fund’s membership is granted to each person who donates a value of one million riyals, as the membership will be continuous and not limited to a period of time, stressing that the fund is moving to be a strong and influential civil arm in The health sector, which is a complex and complex and its challenges are many and ongoing.
He said that the fund's fundamentals are to generate a productive sector and reach a loving society for giving, noting that Vision 2030 set targets and programs by recognizing the non-profit sector for the first time, recognizing that 50% of the endowment sectors have weak health information, in addition to the fact that 80 % Of donor institutions are not satisfied with the level of services provided in the health field.
