On Wednesday 14 November 2018, Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Contracting Committee, organized a lecture entitled "10 items that to achieve quality in building your home," which was hosted at the headquarter of the Chamber.
The lecture was presented by the CEO of the National Project for Engineering Awareness Eng. Mathakar Daghash Al-Qahtani, and attended by the Secretary General of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Wabel and a number of members of the Committee and the presence of a remarkable of interested and specialists.
During the lecture, Al-Hammad, a member of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber and Chairman of the Construction Committee, explained that this lecture aimed at educating contractors and architects about quality and sustainability factors in housing construction as an indicator of the progress of communities and quality of life.
Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Hammad said that the quality and sustainability of the housing comes to the list of priorities of the vision of the Kingdom 2030, which is facilitating a balanced and sustainable housing environment through improving quality and reliability in residential products and reducing operating and maintenance costs for the citizen.
Al-Hammad said that the Kingdom, represented by the Ministry of Housing, has recently launched a "quality assurance" platform to protect and monitor the construction of housing.
This will undoubtedly contribute to reducing the potential risks to buildings and meeting the vision and aspirations of the Kingdom, as it promotes sustainable building and lifestyle improvements.
Al-Hammad pointed out that the lecture sheds light on the quality procedures in housing construction, starting with planning and pre-design of houses, through the implementation methods and the consequences of poor implementation of citizens, and to the most important items that must be noticed by contractors and architects in the implementation of the most important standards of quality in housing construction in general.
This lecture represents the opportunity to identify the contractors and architects and those interested in housing construction in the Eastern Region of the quality items that outlined by Engineer Qahtani in ten points as follows.
Al-Qahtani talked about the need to determine the target and requirements when building the house, so that he can put an estimate budget fit his potential and away from the financial waste that could affect his work later, and follow the procedures known at the construction and use materials and approved devices that ensure the correct result.
Al-Qahtani said that many people when building the house take into account only the comfort of the guests of the house, and do not pay attention to the people of their homes allocated to the large spaces in the guest rooms and reduces the living spaces of their families.
Theses are common mistakes. So, the house should be ideal for its residents and take into account that it is a waiting station only for guests.
Al-Qahtani pointed out that when building the house, it is necessary to choose the competent contractor who works with an accredited engineer and follow a clear and approved plan and procedures. The owner of the house should be careful to build his own house using the original materials with the need for repeated examination of all parts.
He pointed out that mistakes and the use of non-approved materials cause high costs to the owner of the house, which becomes an economic disaster.
