His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz will patronize the activities of the Eastern Region Business and Commercial Forum on April 17, which is organized by Asharqia Chamber as one of the activities of the Commercial Committee with the aim of raising the level of commercial activity in the Eastern Region and addressing the many challenges facing the sector at the present time.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, said that a busy program will be held in the Forum at the headquarter of the Chamber.
There will be three sessions within the Forum, one of which was devoted to direct dialogue with His Excellency Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, whose attending will be a great addition to the Forum's dialogues.
The Forum aims to achieve communication between representatives of the public sector and the direct supervisor of the commercial sector on the one hand, and business men and women on the other hand, as this is one of the main objectives and interlocutors of Asharqia Chamber.
Al Khalidi expected that the direct dialogue session with His Excellency Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, will be discussing many of the concerns of workers in the commercial sector in order to find solutions with his Excellency, especially in light of the qualitative developments witnessed by commercial activity in the Eastern region, and in the Kingdom in general.
He pointed out that this Forum is one of the activities of the Commercial Committee of Asharqia Chamber, which is within the Chamber's mission to develop business activity to open up more prospects for the private sector, and to look for solutions to the difficulties facing the sector.
Al-Khalidi added that the Forum will discuss a number of important topics that are directly related to the business activity, including "e-commerce legislation and regulations and their impact on the retail sector" because e-commerce is of great importance in retail markets, both now and in the future.
He explained that Asharqia Chamber has been diligently trying to look forward to the future and try to read it early, and then make recommendations and proposals to deal with it. When looking at the subject of electronic commerce, it sees in the light of reality indicators that it is the language of the era in the coming years.
He noted that Asharqia Chamber discussed the subject of electronic commerce more than twenty years ago.
The Forum, while focusing on the issue of legislation and regulations on electronic commerce, had a direct impact on the development of this type of trade, which will not proceed in a manner that achieves the added value of the national economy, unless the legislation and regulations are accurate, clear and explicit, and this is "what we have seen in recent years of the issuance of many decisions governing the electronic business activity."
Al-Khalidi expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir of the Eastern Province for sponsoring the activities of this Forum and for the Minister of Commerce and Investment to interact with the Forum and participate in one of its sessions and meet with representatives of the private sector of business men and women in the Eastern Province.
For his part, Chairman of the Commercial Committee in Asharqia Chamber, Hani bin Hassan al-Afalq, said that trade in the Eastern region is witnessing major developments and successive due to the geographical location (on the Arabian Gulf, and near the GCC) and the economic importance represented by the region as the capital of oil and industry in the Kingdom, and the tremendous developments, which is the entry of the electronic component in the trade exchange, which witnessed qualitative leaps in the volume of daily trade exchanges.
He added that the Forum will review a number of success stories of some prominent institutions in the face of challenges and difficulties in the issue of electronic commerce, which is the language of the age in the commercial side in particular.
The purpose of all of this is to exchange views on the solutions to these challenges and the difficulties faced by institutions in this regard.
He noted that there is a great preparation by the Scientific Committee of the Forum by selecting a number of experts and speakers who have experience and knowledge as some of them are businessmen and some of whom are distinguished businessmen in their fields especially the issue of electronic commerce, and some of them are responsible in some circles involved in business activity.
He expected the forum to be another addition to the business activity in the Eastern region.
