In line with the International Law Day on September 13, Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Asharqia Chamber Arbitration Center, organized a lecture on Monday, September 16, 2024, entitled "Legal Awareness in Light of Digital Transformation Developments", presented by Attorney Omar Al-Amoudi, in the presence of a number of arbitrators, legal experts, law students, and interested parties, at the Chamber's main headquarters. Attorney Al-Amoudi provided a brief overview of the programs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, their impact on developing and empowering the law, and the duties and responsibilities that every legal professional must have. He also highlighted the digital transformation that the Kingdom is witnessing today, and its impact on the legal aspect and legal processes in terms of procedures and policies. He also explained that legal awareness has become extremely important at the present time, as legal challenges related to the use of modern technology and digital transformation are increasing in various aspects of life. Digital transformation requires a fundamental change in how services are provided, business is managed, and interaction with the public, which imposes the need to understand the laws and legislation governing this field. Al-Amoudi stressed that digital contracts and transactions have become common, raising legal issues related to the validity of contracts, consumer rights, and legal procedures followed in the event of disputes. Hence, awareness of the laws governing these transactions must be raised to ensure their safety and legality. He said that laws related to cybersecurity are constantly evolving to protect personal data, digital assets, and vital infrastructure, pointing to the importance of protecting intellectual property in the digital world, as well as avoiding violating the rights of others, stressing that governments are working to update legislation to keep pace with the digital transformation, which requires individuals and institutions to stay informed of legal developments that affect their digital activities to ensure compliance and avoid legal problems. During the lecture, Al-Amoudi addressed the impact of digital transformation on the judicial system through analyzing judicial data, enhancing transparency, accelerating justice procedures, preserving financial resources, improving efficiency and productivity, judicial research, and the user experience of pleading cases. He also reviewed the most prominent features of legal materials related to cybersecurity, intellectual property, e-commerce and digital contracts, artificial intelligence and ethics, and digital legislation.
