Indian Catalogue Show at Asharqia Chamber Proves a Big Draw
An Indian catalogue exhibition organized on Nov. 11, 2009 at Asharqia Chamber attracted a large number of Saudi businessmen. Over 200 Indian companies engaged in various sectors participated in one-day show, which was organized by the Embassy of India in Riyadh.
Mr. Adnan A. Al Nueim, Secretary General of Asharqia Chamber, inaugurated the show. Mr.Rajeev Shahare,Deputy Chief of Mission of Indian Embassy, was present on the occasion.
On the view at the exhibition were catalogues of a wide range of products and services. They included agriculture & food, automobiles, auto spare parts, chemicals, electrical & electronic products and engineering goods. Also on display were home appliances, construction equipment, turn-key projects, pharmaceuticals, IT & telecommunications products, pumps, motors, generators, rubber products, ready-made garments, textiles and fire and safety materials.
The Indian exhibition proved to be a big draw, said an official of the Indian Embassy. He added that several catalogue exhibitions of Indian products organized recently in Saudi Arabia have resulted in significant increase in Indian exports to the Kingdom.
Saudi imports from India rose to $ 3.7 billion during the period of 2007-8, as against $ 2.6 billion for the corresponding period of 2006-2007. Saudi exports to India increased to $19.4 billion in 2007-08, as compared to $ 12.9 billion for the same period in 2006-07.
