Asharqia Chamber of Measurement and Calibration to ensure the quality of industry in Jubail
Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Jubail Branch Business Council, organized a workshop entitled: Measurement and calibration is a guarantee of industry quality, which was hosted by the Chamber’s branch in Jubail Governorate, Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
The workshop reviewed the importance of calibration in many industrial fields as a guarantee of the correctness of measurements in the devices used in manufacturing, and the security and safety of the facility. It aims to reduce financial waste and gain the trust of beneficiaries، It is also considered a requirement for obtaining accreditation based on the international standard ISO17025.
Regarding the importance of achieving the metrological reference, the specialists participating in the workshop stressed that this procedure guarantees confidence in the measurement result by returning it to the units of the international system, and the validity of the final measurement result by specifying correction coefficients. It also ensures the correctness of the uncertainty estimate in the final measurement result, in addition to being one of the main requirements Standard 17025 of 2017 and without achieving it, any laboratory wishing to obtain international accreditation can never be accredited.
The workshop confirmed that the National Center for Measurement and Calibration is the national authority entrusted with maintaining all national measurement standards to achieve the principle of attribution and linking them to the basic international units with the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), pointing to its most important national and international achievements, including the qualification and training of employees of the sectors laboratories to obtain accreditation International, and providing specialized technical courses in the field of measurement and calibration, looking forward to enhancing opportunities for integration and cooperation with the authorities, by discussing the mechanism for activating the measurement and calibration system, achieving the principle of metrological attribution of measurement devices and tools, integration between the authorities and benefiting from the services provided by the center, and developing and supporting the infrastructure National infrastructure for quality in the industrial sector.
The supervisor of the strength laboratory at the National Center for Measurement and Calibration, Abdullah bin Abdulrahman bin Aoun, and the supervisor of the hardness laboratory at the center, Muhammad bin Abdullah Al Aidan, spoke in the workshop. The workshop was also managed by the head of the Jubail Business Council, Saad bin Muhammad Al-Buainain.
