Asharqia Chamber Holds a Workshop for Owners and Members of Family Businesses on Wednesday
Asharqia Chamber is organizing, in cooperation with Tharawat Forum and Ernst Co., a workshop entitled (Family Businesses: Leading Change) on Wednesday December 5, 2012 at
the Holiday Inn in Khobar .
Secretary General of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Wabel explained that the workshop will discuss several topics including: how family businesses react to economic and social changes in developing strategies and planning for successful successor. The workshop also reviews best practices in corporate organization on the basis of efficient governance system and the mechanics of incorporating and improving new generations to ensure continuity of family businesses.
Al Wabel said that changing global economic conditions in light of uncertain future expectations, low levels of development in most developed countries, and the evident slowdown in leading emerging markets pushed companies to re-evaluate their policies in management of business. He added that family businesses in the Kingdom face several challenges as there is a need to develop their corporate organization, and ensure the success of future generations in managing the business, in addition to developing effective governance systems to regulate professional relationships between family members and the company. Al Wabel pointed that these circumstances necessitate that the Chamber fulfills its role towards these companies and to spread awareness through seminars and workshops with the participation of professionals who provide advice and a roadmap that contributes to the protection of family businesses.
