On Monday October 15, 2018, Al-Kifah Holding Group reviewed its experience with regard to its roles and starting points in its programs towards social responsibility, as a part of a series of successful experiences in social responsibility that is provided by Asharqia Chamber (represented by the Center for Social Responsibility.).
The meeting was held in the presence of the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber, Hamad Bin Mohammed Al-Boali, the Secretary-General Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Wabel, and a number of businessmen and businesswomen in the region, interested parties, and officials of social responsibility centers and programs in companies.
National religious duty
For his part, Al-Boali stressed the importance of social responsibility as a relative addition to companies and a national religious duty. He pointed to its role in the sustainability and growth of companies in the long term.
He pointed out that Asharqia Chamber aims to a series of successful experiences in social responsibility that to help in achieving the recognition of the business sector in the Eastern Region that leads to successful experiments in social responsibility programs.
Construction of human kinds
The member of the Board of Directors of Al-kifah Holding, Suleiman bin Hassan Afalq, said that social responsibility is an innate humanistic discourse in which the individual is born and religion is affirmed within him. Saudi society applies social responsibility as a human and religious value at the same time.
He stressed that success in social responsibility is not limited to the size of the business, but is measured by the impact it leaves in the community, which is the same as the care and sought by the father - may God have mercy on him - to work and to leave the impact through the construction in human kinds, therefore,he founded Al-Kifah Academy and Hassan Al-Afalq Rehabilitation Hospital.
He pointed out that social responsibility is the commitment of companies to ethical conduct in the community in which they live.
Environmental sustainability
Moreover, the Director of Business Development in the Real Estate department at Al-Kifah Holding, Dana Bin Oussama Al-Afalq, reviewed Al-kifah experience in social responsibility. She Said, “The journey of Al-Kifah Holding started from the statement or vision of the founder of Al-Kifah that stated ‘the good seed brings good plant and that the creation of good impact and the achievement of excellence lies in environmental sustainability and community.’”
Therefore, the objectives were to strive for excellence in sustainable operations by making conscious and responsible decisions to create the best possible work environment and reduce the environmental impact of our industrial processes, as well as to enrich and support society by focusing on creativity and empowering young people to build an entrepreneurial generation capable of leading the future.
Enriching the Community
Dana Al-Afaliq explained that Al-Kifah started in its social responsibility through three main axes. The first is to focus on environmental sustainability and the tools to achieve it in line with the Group's business such as transforming 57% of our farms into organic farms, transforming the paper products industry into environmentally friendly materials and recyclable products, as well as designing environmentally friendly mixing plants and investing in medical products to combat infection.
The second axis focused on the idea of enriching the community by establishing Al-Kifah Academy as a non-profit organization in Al-Ahsa, and the establishment of digital manufacturing plant (Fab Lab) in the city of Jubail, as well as supporting initiatives, e.g., “Makarim Intiative”, which is a comprehensive initiative to promote values among young people, and the introduction of intensive educational programs that will be applied for the first time in the Kingdom, such as STEAM.
Health and Sport
Dana Al-Afaliq said that the third axis focused on the values (health and sports) because of their impact on human life. Therefore, Al-Kifah established and developed Sheikh Hassan Al-Afalq Rehabilitation Hospital, sponsored Al-Fath Sports Club in Al-Ahsa and established Al-Kifah Sports Academy, as well as the adoption of the championship Al-Kifah Holding for mental sports, and the organization of the annual initiative of Sheikh Hassan Al-Aflq for sports for its staff.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice President of Asharqia Chamber, Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Boali, honored the member of the Board of Directors of Al-Kifah Holding Group, Sulayman bin Hassan Al-Afaliq with a commemorative shield.
