Al-Kanhal: Community contributes in the formulation of food and drugs laws

Authority supervises on 80% of medicines and we are waiting for cadres to manage pharmacies
Chief Executive of the SFDA Dr. Mohammed Al-Kanhal ensured that the Authority adopts transparency modern technology along with the global experience in maintaining the food and drugs safety, and medical equipments for both human and animal.
Al-Kanhal who was the guest for Tuesday monthly gathering at the Chamber, April 6th, 2010 said that the Authority objectives are limited to food safety , and the safety of medicines for both human and animals, and safety of biological, health and medicinal plants, pesticides, cosmetics, eyeglasses, contact lenses and their solutions.
He pointed to the systems formulated based on the participation of all related people, and we are working on integration with all ministries in the country, and have a private sector representatives in the Authority Council .
Al-Kanhal also said that the Authority signed an agreement with Germany Co. who have a long experience in the development of regulatory conditions for food, this choice was based on the experience of this company in Eastern Europe, which contributed to the rehabilitation of systems in Bulgaria and other, adding, that Authority has trained about 800 person in Europe to make use of food control systems, confirming that the regulatory systems in Saudi Arabia will be ready within the next three years.
He said that the Authority is currently supervising 80% of medicines, whether for the license, registration, pricing and control of warehouses, except the pharmacies control, due to non-existence of Authority elements in all the Kingdom regions,
He confirmed that Authority does not defamation of companies or factories or names, as far as the role of awareness of the consumer, but sometimes this message cant be without the names of some errors in manufacturing, which is what the Authority do regarding water and other products,
He explained that the most important achievements of the SFDA was to prepare the project of feed which is currently being harmonized with the regulations and domestic legislation, in addition to the launching of a plan to develop the control on imported food in collaboration with GTZ, German Co, starting from mid 1430 and will last for three years.
Al-Kanhal explained that the Authority is about to establish a private building to accomplish its mission, and the establishment of the License Management (Registration human medicines, veterinary, and licensing pharmaceutical installations in accordance with practices of the World Pharmaceutical Control), and the establishment of the inspectorate and the application of the system (Make way pharmaceutical and presence in the port inspection, pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical establishments, and the program of monitoring the quality of medicine), and the establishment of the Department assess the preparations and the development of standards (evaluation of products submitted for registration and update the technical requirements and guidelines), establishment of management vigilance and Medication Safety (follow-up and assessment of reports of medication safety, monitoring program and establishment of (laboratories of human and veterinary medicines and cosmetics).
He mentioned the tasks that have moved into the pharmaceutical sector from the Ministries of Health and Agriculture, was in the registration of companies, human drugs, products and pricing of medicines, the registration of pharmaceutical and veterinary products, and registrationof companies, products, herbal and health products, and issuance of import permits and make way medicines, and licensing plants medicine and scientific offices and counseling centers and analysis of pharmaceuticals and inspection, and licensing the sale of medicines wholesale warehouses.
Vice Chairman of Eastern Chamber ,Mr. Abdullah Al-Amar had made a brief speech, in which he praised the role of the Authority in the investment in the areas of food and medicine, calling on everyone to cooperate with it to secure a healthy development for society.
