Al-Jizani: We seek to support the logistics sector with specialized human resources
The Executive Director of the Saudi Logistics Academy, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdul-Jizani, confirmed that the academy is the only entity specialized in providing training programs in the field of logistics, not only at the level of the Kingdom but also at the level of the region as a whole. In supporting the logistics sector with the best specialized national competencies capable of shaping the sector’s future, achieving the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in enabling our country to be a global logistics center linking the three continents. To ensure the provision of quality programs following the best international standards and models, he also stressed that the Academy operates according to four tracks, serves seven sectors, and works in direct partnership with four government agencies related to the logistics sector.
He added during the workshop organized by the Asharqia Chamber on Sunday, February 27, 2022 AD, under the title (The Role of the Saudi Logistics Academy in Localizing Professions), that the Academy signed many memoranda of understanding with many educational and training agencies inside and outside the Kingdom, and it has a diversity of partnerships as it is keen to provide Training with high standards, with encouraging benefits during the training period, and distinguished after graduation and joining the labor market.
He pointed out that the logistic sector is a difficult, heavy, and numerous sector, and therefore it is difficult to work in it directly, as the theoretical educational programs are not sufficiently far from the practical application of the worker wishing to enter this vital field, but rather it is necessary to integrate theory with on-the-job training, and this is what to the academy.
Al-Jizani stated that after the announcement of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the logistics sector was one of the most important sectors mentioned as one of the most important goals of the vision, as the Kingdom seeks to be a global logistics platform, and this certainly requires the provision of three main requirements: strong infrastructure (ports, airports, railways, road network), applying the best international practices at this level locally, and finally human elements specialized in this field. And it seeks to meet the increasing demand for jobs specialized in the logistics field, as most workers in this sector work in non-logistical specialties, and the reason is due to the lack of educational and training programs, and therefore it is important to qualify specialized cadres in this regard, to play the same role
He said that the inauguration of the academy came in July 2021 as a joint initiative between the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, and the Public Transport Authority, with the support of the National Industrial Development Program (NDLP) and the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf). It serves seven sectors: “logistics and supply chains, postal logistics services, maritime and port transport, air transport, e-commerce and warehouse management, land transport, as well as international trade, shipping, and export.”
He stated that the Academy offers its training programs on four tracks. The first track consists of three-semester qualification diploma programs, each 14-week semester, including a special chapter in English, and a chapter in specialization subjects. The second track is short courses and distance training (which are intended for workers In the logistical field), international professional certificate programs, and the third track is specialized executive programs (to prepare leaders in this field)
He touched on the specializations offered by the Academy in the diploma program, which are: supply chain management and logistics, electronic commerce, warehouse management, marketing, sales and customer service, transportation and distribution specializations, management of shipping and customs operations, port and operations management, international trade, import and export, and the technical factor, all of which are in line with The Kingdom’s goals in Vision 2030
He pointed to several skills that the academy provides to the trainee, including discipline, working under pressure, adapting to changes, analytical thinking, creativity, and so on.
