The Contractors Committee of Asharqia Chamber, under the leadership of its Chairman Nasir ibn Saeed Al-Hajiri and the members of Asharqia Chamber's Administrative Board, discussed a proposal to organize the first contractors conference in the Eastern Region. The goal of the conference would be to enable a discussion of key issues of concern to the region's contractors, and ways to develop and upgrade the performance of the construction companies.
The Committee heard a report from a work group established to make initial preparations for the forum but a date for the conference has not yet been set.
The Committee also discussed a proposal to open a branch of the Office of the Ministry of Labor in the Main Building of Asharqia Chamber to facilitate contractors similar to what has been done at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce.
The committee also discussed the issue of the lateness of some government departments to send letters extending some projects, which caused delays in the delivery of some shipments of asphalt from Saudi Aramco. Members of the Committee stressed the importance of sending these letters, which is a condition for the distribution of the required amounts of asphalt.
