The director of electronic services
department of the Saudi company for information Mishaal bin Abdullah Al Sarhan
said that the company completed more than 19 million electronic transactions
last year in comparison with more than 17 million transactions in 2015 in its
field of operation to track shipments and goods to and from ports of Saudi
Arabia, stressing that the transactions increase annually, according to the
implementation plan.
Al
Sarhan said in a workshop held on Monday (May 15, 2017) in Asharqia main headquarters in Dammam
to introduce the merchandise tracking system (Masar) as one of the projects of
the company. service
through sea ports, and 16 service by air ports, and 11 service across land, and 7 services across the dry port, and
5 ports across the rest of the ports.
Al
Sarhan pointed in the workshop that was headed by Board Member Bandar Al Jabri, that the
company standardizing procedures and prevent duplication between the different
ports. We deal with eight strategic partners including customs clearance
agents, shipping agents, private laboratories, banks, insurance companies, the
importer and exporter can follow up the process of handling shipments and
containers through the unified survey portal. The customs agent can also check
the details of the insurance policy through the insurance policy number, goods
from the first issuance and even the location.
He
expressed the hope that all necessary procedures to achieve electronic
connectivity with neighboring countries such as the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and
Jordan will be completed. The experiment has succeeded Qatar, and this has its
positive effects as it reduces the risk and the differences in quality and avoiding
the government procedures.
He
said that the company performance is in
accordance with the top standards quality, with annually updated databases, and
periodically reviewed, explaining the establishment of an emergency information
center for the use to any exceptional circumstance, stressing that the user
system is supported internationally.
He
stressed the existence of communication and coordination between the company
and the concerned parties to ease the procedures to reach clearance in a period
not exceeding 24 hours, pointing that the government authorities are obliged to
complete all procedures of clearing containers in a period not exceeding 24
maximum.
