Ministry ofEconomy and Planning "Unable" for 38 Years: Shura Council
MembersoftheShura Councilsharply criticizedtheperformanceofthe Ministry ofEconomy and Planning,stressingthatithas become''unable"tohelpitselfandfulfillitsroles,andlacksqualifiedstaffandregularbudget.
Members of theShura saidyesterdaythatthe performance ofthe Ministrydid not differorchange,calling for theformation ofan advisory bodylinked tothe Minister of EconomyandPlanning thatincludesnational expertisefrom different sectors, to followdevelopment planningandthe general economic situationof the country,in a recommendationfor Economic AffairsandEnergy Committee.
Members alsocalledfor finding newmechanismsat the government levelandprivate sectorlevel,to follow up andidentify the reasons behindstalledimplementation of government projects,and to formulate adevelopment planand follow-up itsachievementsby building agrowth modelfor each region thatdeterminesgrowth ratesandtarget sectors.
The Ministry, whichisworkingtohelpgovernment agenciesis nowinneedfor help,itcould notoperateas a result oflackoftrainedpersonnel.
