Respected/ the importers of tobacco products
Asharqia Chamber presents you with its best greetings, and would like to inform you of receiving the letter of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (12818 / GS) on 19/2/1440, which referred to the Authority's observation on tobacco products that are containing the data in the packaging card on phrases such as Adults only, Less Smell, Filter Firm, Double your fresh taste and what it represents. This is a violation of the provisions of Article (5) of the Executive Regulations of the Anti-Smoking Regulations issued by Royal Decree No. (M / 65) dated 28/7/1436 AH, which included that the tobacco package cards should include the statement "tobacco product should not be sold for those under the age of 18," as what was mentioned in the Gulf Technical Regulations for Tobacco Products Packs No. (GSO 246/2011) that stated, "Do not describe the product as a description that may give the wrong impression of its characteristics or that it is less harmful."
Therefore, the Authority calls upon all importers of tobacco products to abide by the provisions of Article (5) of the Regulations of the Anti-Smoking Regulations and the provisions of the Gulf Technical Regulations for Tobacco Products Packs No. GSO 246/2011.
The Authority asserts that it will not allow the above-mentioned violations as of 1/5/1440 AH.
