Gentlemen / Importers and traders of universal sockets
Asharqia Chamber presents you with its best greetings, and would like to inform you about the letter of the Council of Saudi Chambers (SG / 2128) dated 29/7/1439 that referred to the letter of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment No. (40524) dated (24/7/1439). It is based on the letter of HE the Deputy Governor of the Saudi for Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (No. 5226 / AS) dated 12/7 / 1439H that referred to the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization No. 163 dated 24/4/1439, which includes the resolutions excluding Universal Sockets from the application of Saudi Standards No. 2203/2015. It is in accordance with the regulations established by the Authority, namely:
-The suppliers of the universal sockets (either manufactured locally or imported) are obligated to complete the rest of the requirements of the Saudi Standards by attaching a certificate of conformity of the plugs. The certificate of conformity of the plugs should shows that these universal sockets are following the requirements of the Saudi Standards, except for the sockets' shape, and then submitted it to the Authority.
-The Suppliers undertake that the plugs belong to a tourism project, as they should specifying the required quantity with an increase of 10% for the maintenance purposes through obtaining a valid license for this tourism project from the concerned authorities such as the General Authority for Tourism.
- The supplier should commit not to place and display these plugs in the market.
