Dear/ meat importers
Asharqia Chamber presents its best greetings to you, and would like to inform you of receiving the letter of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (58401 / GS) dated (26/9/1439), on the laboratory tests carried out by the Authority on meat and its products that are imported to Saudi Arabia.
The tests showed repeated contamination of meat from INDAGRO FOODS PVT LTD- it carries the number 36 in the Republic of India- with E. coli 0157, the meat contamination from ALM Industries Ltd –it has the accreditation number 38 in the Republic of India- with E. coli 0157 and Salmonella spp. for the first time, as well as the meat contamination from AOV Exports Pvt Ltd.- it bears the No. 133 in the Republic of India- with E. coli 0157 for the first time.
In order to ensure the health and safety of the consumer and to preserve the safety of meat that is exported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Authority issued the following:
-Suspension of import from INDAGRO FOODS PVT LTD, which bears the number 36 in the Republic of India, due to the repeated contamination of its products with E. coli 0157, for shipments shipped after 7/9 /1439H (corresponding to 7/6 / 2018).
It is until the regulatory authorities in the Republic of India provide the Authority with the results of the investigation of the microbiological contamination of the meat exported from that establishment to Saudi Arabia, including E. coli 0157 and the procedures used to control it.
-Requesting the regulatory authorities in the Republic of India to provide the Authority with the results of the investigation of the microbiological contamination of meat exported from ALM Industries Ltd with the accreditation number 38, and AOV Exports Pvt. Ltd, which bears the No. 133 in the Republic of India, as well as including the microbial contamination (E. coli 0157) and a microbe (Salmonella spp.).
The procedures followed by the regulatory authorities and establishments to reduce the pollution of products, and to inform them that the Authority will suspend the importation of meat from these establishments in the event of repeated contamination of their products with E. coli 0157 and Salmonella spp.
