David Mathe, the President of the American Council for Eastern Trade made it clear that American companies are seeking to increase trade and investment with Saudi companies. and is looking for investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia. He also mentioned that a memorandum was submitted to U.S. authorities to requesting that it be made easier for Saudi businessmen to visit the U.S.
Mathe and his delegation met a number of Saudi businessmen including Khalid Abdur-Rahman Al-Abdul-Karim, member of Asharqia Board of Directors, Adnan bin Abdullah Al Nueim, Secretary-General of Asharqia Chamber, and Sami Abdullah Abu Suraih, Assistant Secretary-General for Public Relations and Media.
Al-Abdul-Karim spoke about the special relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and said that the United States continues to be the largest trading partner of the Kingdom. He pointed out that there are more than 360 U.S.- Saudi joint projects with a total investment of more than 90 billion riyals, adding, "there is still room for further U.S. investment in Saudi Arabia,"
The visiting delegation of 15 businessmen represented a number of companies specializing in the fields of oil and gas, energy, insurance, telecommunications, information technology, petrochemical industries, machinery and equipment, water desalination, engineering and contracting.
