The 2009 Women's Economic Forum organized by Asharqia Chamber is set to begin today, May 12 at 4pm under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Jawahir bint Naif ibn Abdul-Aziz, the wife of the Governor of the Eastern Province.
Abdur-Rahman ibn Rashid Al-Rashid, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Asharqia Chamber, said that this is the second women's forum that has been organized and 17 business women, journalists and intellectuals from all over the region will be speaking at the forum. The opening speaker will be Princess Luw'luw'ah Al-Faisal, the Vice President of the Board of Trustees and General Superintendent of Iffat College in Jeddah. Also speaking at the opening ceremony will be Dr. Hissa bint Sa'd ibn Abdullah Al-Sabah, Chairperson for the Board of Arab Businesswomen. The Opening Ceremony will be hosted by Khadeejah bint Qunna.
The forum entitled "Women As Development Partners" will discuss a number of research papers and topics including: The Participation of Women in the Economy....A National and Social Necessity, The Social Responsibility For Companies to Include Women In Economic Development, The Economic and Social Participation of Arab Women: Opportunity and Development, The Participation of Women Is a Necessity Not A Luxury, as well as other important topics. All of this with the goal of increasing the participation of women in economics.
