National Contractors Forum Oct 27

The Second National Contractors Forum organized by the Contractors' Committee of Asharqia Chamber will take place on October 27-28, 2009 at the Chamber premises.
It will be a platform for exchanging views between contractors and their clients and government authorities. Representatives of several government departments, companies of strategic sectors, civil contracting and industrial companies will participate in the Forum. Representatives of specialized consulting firms in the areas of law, industry, technology, management and engineering, several developers, owners and suppliers, and representatives of banking and insurance sectors will also participate in the event.
Mr. Abdulrahman Rashed Al Rashed, President of Asharqia Chamber, said that this Forum in being held in the wake of remarkable and rapid growth in the contracting activity particularly in its various civil and industrial areas. There have also been significant growth noticed in the fields of building and construction and consulting. These renewed activities are taking place in the contracting sector following scores of giant projects undertaken by the government as well as private developers. " This Forum will give an opportunity to contractors and project owners to discuss problems and impediments which might stand in the way of implementing the projects," added Mr. Al Rashed.
Mr. Abdullah Hamad Al Ammar, Chairman of the Chamber's Contractors Committee, said that the Forum has been mainly aimed at bringing to the limelight the current challenges facing the Saudi construction sector and finding their solutions. He pointed to the mega projects such as development of the economic cities, which, he observed, have revitalized the Kingdom's construction activities. To implement these mega projects, he stressed the need for establishing large entities through mergers among the contracting firms.
