Minister of Trade and Industry sponsors the Forum governance in family businesses in 2014
Sponsored by the Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah " the governance in family businesses in 2014 Forum ( the challenges of the continuity of generations " , organized by the Eastern Chamber in partnership with the Institute of Directors in the GCC countries , on Thursday ( early May ), the headquarters of the Chamber of Dammam.
the Secretary General of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Alwabil said that the event which is being held for the second time in a row has the participation of a number of local experts and from the Gulf , so as it represents the family business of great importance to the local economy ( and the Gulf and the world too) .. He pointed out that investments in family businessesin the Kingdom exceeded 66 billion dollars, except that most family businesses do not succeed in staying beyond the third generation, which requires standing in front of this phenomenon, subjected to research , for the continuation of these companies , and the continuation of its bid in the service of the national economy.
He indicated that the event given the seriousness of the role played by family businesses looking risks of succession, the challenges of continuing the family business from one generation to another , in addition to the most important obstacles to achieve a balance between management and ownership between family relationships .. he said, adding that the forum highlights the main obstacles facingfamily businesses in order to apply the principles of corporate governance , as well as the review highlighted the challenges and lessons from the experiences of the global family businesses in this area .
He said that the participants in the forum will be looking at the first meeting of the axis ( move the family business to the next generation .. challenges and possible solutions ) , talking about this axis a number of experts and specialists , each representing family businesses known .. witnessing the forum in this session to review the resultsbasic survey conducted by one of the research institutions around the views of family businesses in the Middle East about ( the challenges of achieving a balance between data management and family relationships ) , listens to come to a detailed review of the experience of one of the family business leader , while searching the second session ( obstacles implementation of corporate governance in family businesses ).
