German exports to Kingdom rising
During theGerman catalog shows in Dammam

German catalog shows are taking place in Riyadh and Dammam at their respective chambers of commerce and industry.
The delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia and Yemen, while the one in Dammam opens on Sunday and end on Monday with a German breakfast at Le Meridian Hotel in Alkhobar.
“German exports to Saudi Arabia rose by 20 percent to almost $7.5 billion in 2010, and are maintaining a rising trend. This is because we are constantly encouraging German companies to participate in the much needed transfer of technology and know-how to help Saudis attain the objectives of their 9th development plan 2010-2014, which gives emphasis on the diversification of industrial production and the creation of employment generating service sector,” Hergenrother told a German breakfast meeting.
The product portfolio at the shows ranges from special lifting machinery to mobile robots, from services in landscape architecture to the high quality of manufactured tools.
Abdul-Karim Yaquob, executive director of foreign affairs at the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and around 100 Saudi and German businessmen attended the meeting.
Hergenrother told Arab News that the Office of German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia and Yemen is the official representative of German economy in Saudi Arabia and it is very active in promoting German-Saudi business relations by offering its services to both Saudis and Germans.
In the first half of 2011, the office organized 15 conferences in Germany to promote business in Saudi Arabia.
He said the first Saudi Arabia Desk in Germany was launched last year in order to inform German companies about the huge potential of Saudi economic partnership.
For the rest of 2011, the office will organize several trips for business delegations of the two countries.
