30th), on industrial and environmental safety requirements in the
factories, stressed that the environmental standards are the biggest requirements of issuing factory operating licenses and
noted that the environmental impact assessment and environmental
approval of the proposed projects and expansions of existing projects
falls under Three
categories, including the limited impact category and the category
requiring a specific environmental impact assessment study, others that
have a significant potential environmental impact and need to prepare a
comprehensive environmental assessment study, as well as the importance
of incorporating safety requirements and requirements into the
environment the annual plan of the facilities and the linking of the assessment
and reward program with the record of safety violations for employees
and the existence of safety standards for each operational equipment.
For
his part, the Director of the Environmental Protection Department of
the General Authority of the Eastern Region for Meteorology and
Environment Protection, Abdulrahman Al Shihri, spoke about the
Environmental Rehabilitation Unit, which was launched by the General
Directorate of Environmental Protection to solve the problem of
accumulating industrial wastes such as used oils and others in
environmentally sound ways. Environmental rehabilitation is a set of measures aimed at improving
and enhancing the efficiency of the organization's management and
environmental systems and containing a range of technical technological
processes.
He
pointed out that the unit was entrusted with the tasks of receiving the
environmental rehabilitation and renewal requests for companies wishing
to work in the field of environmental services, and meeting the owners
of companies and institutions and environmental offices in the request
for qualification to discuss and clarify any questions related to the
termination of rehabilitation procedures, in addition to issuing
effective recommendations and requirements for various activities during
the two phases Construction, preparation and issuance of environmental certification
certificates, as well as preparation and issuance of certificates of
approval for the import and use of environmental technologies.
Environmental impact
On
environmental impact assessment and environmental approval procedures
for the proposed projects and expansions of existing projects, Al Shihri
rated the projects as their impact on the environment to the first
category, projects with limited potential impact on the environment and a
second category, which require a specific EIA study, projects that have a significant potential impact on the
environment and need to prepare a "comprehensive environmental
assessment study" in accordance with the environmental impact assessment
policy.
For
his part, the head of security and safety in the Eastern Sector of the
Industrial Property Authority (MODON), Ahmad bin Yousef Al Ismail,
presented the method of issuing the factory operating license,
identifying it as a document of the company compliance with the
requirements and standards of different cities. And to ensure that the requirements and standards are met in addition to maintaining workers and property.
Operating factories
He
pointed to the acquisition of environmental standards on the largest
area of the requirements of issuing a factory operating license. He
pointed out that besides the standards of completion of construction
according to the approved plans and operating standards according to the
contractual procedures, the importance of complying with environmental
requirements and standards in the Kingdom as well as the safety

one of the most important criteria for issuing a factory operating
license.
As for how to apply for the license, Al Ismail said that investors can
apply for an operating license and know their requirements through
electronic services in E-Modon. The electronic service enables the
investor to follow up the application to print the license after
approval.

At
the conclusion of the workshop, the Director of Human Resources at P
& G, Maher bin Habib Al Muqabab, discussed the experience of his
company in developing a health and safety program. He pointed out that

a healthy and safe working environment and ensure compliance with
safety requirements and expectations of both the company and local
requirements and regulations.
The
