Customs Clearance Committee holds an exceptional meeting
Committee recommends the cooperation of all agencies to avoid containers accumulation in Dammam port
The Customs Clearance Committee has recommended during its extraordinary meeting on Sunday1st of August 2010 on the need to discuss the issue of delayed containers emptying from ships in King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and the provision of employment to work 24 hours to avoid the accumulation of the containers.
Furthermore, Committee chairman Mr.Waleed Al Gheithar explained that the Department have to hold several meetings with the port operators to clarify the duty cycle of the port and the obligations they have towards the customs broker.
The committee suggested holding a joint meeting between the customs officials and navigation mariner to discuss some views and compose a memorandum of understanding describes the processes and functions of the two related parties, as the members has suggested to visit the port and see check on problems of accumulation of goods in order to find solutions to avoid it in the future.
Al Gheithar also noted that the statement attributed to him in the newspapers a few days ago express his opinion as a customs broker.
