Asharqia Chamber reviews the double trailers project at the Logistics Partnership Council meeting
The Director General of the Logistics Sector in the NDLEP Program, Engineer Muhammad bin Hashem Al-Shammari, explained that the double trailers project contributes to supporting the logistic, commercial, industrial, and transport sectors, by increasing the capacity of trucks.
Al-Shammari added, in a meeting organized by Thursday, July 20, 2023, the Asharqia Chamber represented by the Logistics Committee, entitled: Meeting of the Logistics Partnership Council, and its dialogues were moderated by the head of the committee, Rakan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Attishan, that one of the expected positive effects of implementing this project is to contribute to rationalizing fuel consumption, preserving the environment and road infrastructure, and reducing accidents and deaths, and thus keeping pace with the national strategy for transportation and logistics to achieve Vision 2030.
He said there are other effects of implementing this project, including the facilitation of transporters, and the speed of transporting materials. Therefore it represents promising investment opportunities for the private sector.
Regarding the specifications of the three compartments, he indicated that the permissible weight reaches 60 tons, with a total length of 25.25 meters and a height of 4.80 meters, in addition to the requirement to install a plate on the front and rear of the truck containing the phrase "long vehicle".
The representative of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics gave a presentation on the unified logistics window "Loogisti Platform", where the Logistics platform is one of the initiatives of the transport and logistics system in the National Industry Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), which aims to define a reference for commercial activities related to the logistics sector, improve procedures for obtaining logistical licenses, and provide licensing services in one electronic platform.
