Asharqia Chamber reviewed the mechanisms of preferring local content in a workshop
Asharqia Chambers, in cooperation with the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, held a workshop entitled: Mechanisms for Preferring Local Content, with the participation of the Executive Vice President for Operations, Eng. Muhammad bin Moaidh Al-Qahtani, and in the presence of a remarkable number of specialists.
During the workshop, which was moderated by the Vice Chairman of the Industry and Energy Committee, Talal bin Ahmed Al-Zamil, on Monday, May 30, 2022, the authority explained that the local content is the total expenditure in the Kingdom through the participation of Saudi elements in the workforce, goods, services, assets, technology, and others.
The authority indicated that the regulation of preference for local content, local small and medium enterprises, and companies listed in the financial market aims to establish rules, procedures, and mechanisms to favor local content, small and medium enterprises, and companies listed in the financial market.
The authority indicated the main measurement indicators for the proportion of local content through calculating salaries in the Kingdom, spending on goods and services, spending on training Saudis, spending on developing suppliers, spending on research and development, in addition to the depreciable value of assets in the Kingdom, so that the measurement is done at the level of the facility. or contract.
On the mechanism of weighing local content in the financial evaluation, the authority clarified that auditing reports are carried out through one of the audit offices approved by the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, and the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, in agreement with the Spending Efficiency and Governmental Projects Authority, determine the projects for which the minimum local content mechanism will be applied.
