Chamber will launch next Wednesday, April 19, the forum of governance in family
businesses, under the patronage of Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Minister
of Trade and Investment, in cooperation with INSEAD Business School, to be
attended by international and local experts specializing in governance and
transformation. Family

Chairman
of Asharqia Chamber Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al Atishan said that the forum
reviews the governance in family businesses because of the positive results when
committing to it, he pointed that the forum comes to educate family business owners
and all types of companies owners of the importance
of taking governance as a systematic approach in their institutions.
Al
Atishan said that the forum discusses a number of topics that are important in
the field of governance, including boards of directors, attracting expertise
and succession, the impact of sound planning on the sustainability of family
business, and the challenges faced by family businesses in the Middle East. Pointing
that good governance in family and the non family businesses begins when
expertise is available, and written regulations and clear future plans for
growth and expansion.

Ataishan stressed that governance is an essential element in achieving a safe transformation
of family institutions. He pointed to the awareness role played by Asharqia
Chamber in this regard by providing a series of programs, lectures and
workshops to educate family business owners about the importance of governance
as a safe way to sustain their business and preserve their wealth. Saying
that the meeting this year is a continuation
of last year's, which concluded with a set of items that explain how to
complete the transition without disturbances or problems of family business.
