The Director of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam Yousif Althaheri said that the General authority of civil aviation on several measures of development that is consistent with the development of the eastern region, and he express all hopes is upgrading the services provided by the airport, into the Corporation competitive trading method. He stated that the total number of passengers in the airport exceeded the barrier of 7.5 million passengers, with more than 72,000 flights, while air cargo volume exceeded limits of 121 thousand tons, adding that the 2013 growth in passenger traffic at 11 recorded during flights movement 2008-2013 by 7, while the number of domestic flights during the same period, 18 a journey, revealing the existence of future plan during the period (2013-2020) to raise passenger numbers to 12 Million passengers annually, pointing out that these numbers are very conservative. Noting the efforts of the airport management to update its infrastructure and equipment, utilization of the future terminal expansion and increase its capacity to complete renovation by the end of 2018, adding that such a move would put the King Fahad International Airport better, be more personalization in future.
He said that there are several projects under implementation, updating and development of the infrastructure of the airport's information network system, modifying the arrival and departure halls, international travel lounge, building and construction and operation of the airport hotel (5 stars) by one of the investors, the establishment and operation of petrol station by one of the investors, create and run Cavalry lounge for first class and business in the domestic and international departure terminals, the establishment and operation of the air terminal and the aircraft parking area ,unveil run village airfreighting in mid-2014, was signed with 5 companies to run the village, with the allocation of land for each company area 10,000 m2, near the second player bidding for air freight handling.
He said during the meeting moderated by Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al wabil that the invitation is open for business to identify all opportunities, there is an integrated system that will be in effect, the airport is a city, commercial and industrial areas. Pointing out that the plan for the airport on the environment through solar zone, the airport is adequate escort through the area. Althaheri later listened to businessmen questions on many services offered at the airport, answered with full transparency and clarity. He welcomed to all the suggestions and comments of businessmen at the end of the meeting, the Member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber Abdul Rahman Alotaishan honored the guest with a trophy.
