During the Tuesday's meeting in Qatif province:

Al-Thobaiti: Digital orientation has helped spread the culture of safety for all

The Director of Safety Department of the Civil Defense in Qatif province, Major Sami al-Thubaiti, said that the Department seeks to spread a culture of safety among all members of society and seeks to achieve this in partnership with schools, homes and facilities.

He called on all facilities to cooperate with the Civil Defense to maintain safety in their centers and branches through activating contracts to maintain safety equipment and qualify them to be ready for emergency.

Asharqia Chamber held Tuesday's monthly meeting in the province of Qatif in 20 November 2018. The meeting was held at the branch of the Chamber in Alshatie neighborhood, and Engineer Abdul Shahid Sunni, a member of the Business Council of Asharqia Chamber, directed the dialogue that was attended by a number of businessmen in the province.

Al-Thubaiti said that all safety equipment is provided and purchased only with maintenance contracts.

The owner of the establishment shall pay the value of this contract and the selling enterprise shall be bound by maintenance and periodic follow, as some of the owners of the enterprises are overstretched and do not follow the issue of periodic maintenance, which paid in advance, through exposing itself and its origin to danger, and then problem occurs.

Al-Thubaiti confirmed that the safety department is monitoring this procedure. Last year, it set up violations against 90 facilities in the province that did not meet the safety requirements.

He pointed out that the current trend of the Kingdom is "facilitation and speed of completion" of all transactions directed to institutions and citizens in general.

Therefore, we find the accelerated trend to make government e-services fast.

Here, the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense, which supervises all commercial establishments in various aspects of safety, which made all its services quick, clear and electronic.

He added that all services directed to citizens are within this trend, as the most prominent of these services are (Salamah, Salamati), which are directly related to business enterprises.

He pointed out that the "automation" of these services began last year, and encountered some difficulties to start, but after a year of experience, things are easier and more flexible.

Al-Thabeti presented a picture of how to deal with the website of the service of the Civil Defense.

It was noted that the digital orientation of service delivery had been positively reflected on civil defense personnel themselves.

They are now providing their services in a better working environment, apart from the huge benefits that institutions derive from this approach, as the owner of the company can register all branches and can be managed and follow-up from his office and know which branches need to renew a specific permit or provide a specific service.

He noted that each class of business has special requirements (other than the common general requirements), e.g., the gas shop selling is different from the gas spare parts shop.

Within the facilities carried out by the Civil Defense, Al-Thubaiti said that the sites with an area of less than 150 meters are getting their statements immediately without the safety inspector's presence on the site directly, as the Civil Defense assumes safety requirements with the arrival of electricity and provide an invoice for the purchase of fire extinguishers.

The mere arrival of the request for Civil Defense is obtained immediately without an appointment with the inspector, other than the larger sites.

For sites with more than 150 square meters, al-Thubaiti said the administration can make appointments faster than before.

He stressed, "We have increased the number of inspectors, facilitated procedures, and helped us with electronic registration. Every day we cover half of the province, and the beneficiaries may have noticed these developments."

On the three-year term of the permit, which was shortened for two years, Al-Thubaiti said that the follow-up of the issue of safety confirms the positive of this matter.

In conclusion, the guest speaker was honored with a memorial plaque.
