On Monday 9 July 2018, the Chairman of Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, met the Director General of Shamah Autism Center, Saad al-Shahrani, who gave a presentation on the efforts exerted in the center.
During the meeting, Al-Shahrani said that the center was established in 2016 under the patronage of the Prince of the Eastern Region His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz in order to serve children with autism spectrum disorder and their families.
He explained that the capacity of the center is estimated at 100 cases and could be expanded in the future and that the average age serving in the center of 3-12 years.
Also, the center is managed by skilled and qualified technical cadres at the highest levels with a Saudization rate exceeding 90%.
Al-Shahrani stressed that the center cares to supervise the children of autism spectrum after the integration as it provides external clinics for diagnosis free of charges.
One of the most important features of the Center is the application of "Applied Behavioral Analytical Program", which is a program implemented globally. The Center works with this program throughout the year in order to provide a better opportunity that develop the children's conditions as well as modify their behaviors.
One of the main features of Shamah Autism Center is the readiness of the building according to international standards.
In addition, one of the most important achievements of the Center is the application of "the applied behavioral analysis program," as well as the training of 20 children that resulted in the graduation of four children and rehabilitation of high readiness for integration into society and public education.
Also, the center provides free courses for families of autistic children, and offers awareness campaigns for the community too.
