On Tuesday January 29, 2019, The Chairman of Asharqia Chamber of Commerce, Abdulhakeem bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, met the Norwegian Ambassador to the Kingdom (Oyvind Stokke) where they exchanged views to deepen economic relations between the Kingdom and Norway and the areas of cooperation between representatives of the private sector in both countries.
The meeting was attended by a member of the Board Eng. Najib bin Abdullah Al-Sehati and Secretary General of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Wabel.
Al-Khalidi spoke on the importance of the Eastern Region on the map of the national economy in the Kingdom, as being the citadel of national industry, especially with regard to oil, gas and petrochemicals and the presence of the largest global companies in these sectors.
Al-Khalidi pointed to the role played by Asharqia Chamber with its partners in attracting national and foreign investment.
He noted the great cooperation provided by Saudi Aramco and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).
Furthermore, Oyvind Stokke talked about the interest of Norwegian companies in cooperation and partnership with the private sector in the Kingdom, especially in the fields of sustainable and renewable energy, in view of the renewed and investment potential of the Saudi market in these fields.
The meeting reviewed some areas of cooperation between the Kingdom and Norway, including the exchange of trade delegations between the two countries, and an exhibition of Norwegian catalogs in the Kingd.
In conclusion, Al-Khalidi honored the Norwegian ambassador with memorial plaque.
