At a workshop organized by the East Chamber

A specialized workshop organized by the East Chamber held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 titled  stressed that(land and sea pollution and their effects on the environment) that the negative human activity is the main cause for all cases of land and  sea pollution .. calling for activating the formal laws and regulations to preserve the environment.
And  the workshop , which was held at the Chamber of Dammam and was managed by Chairman of the Environment Committee room Talal  Al rasheed has witnessed viewing two working papers, the first dealt with  theme of  land pollution, while the second paper the sea pollution. In the first paper presented by Ahmed Al bouqof Saudi Wildlife Committee talked about the term (diversity BCF), a diversity or richness of life at all structural levels (molecular and genetic, species and ecosystems), which is a  primary renewable resource provides us with natural resources; food, water, wood, energy, and medicine, resulting in a number of services including air, water and soil fertility purification and waste disposal, pest control, as well as aesthetic pleasure
and regarding  the main reasons for the loss of biological diversity, Al bouqof  said that although the phenomenon of extinction is natural, but the human activities are the primary threaten to the extinction of some species and beings, and the most prominent  negative human activity   is the hunting and unjust exploitation, which leads to the deterioration of  environment and losing them as a result of human pressures on them, as well as chemical pollution that comes from human effort also causes a destruction that is difficult to compensate for the types of environments.
He pointed that due to pollution, 4763 species of mammals in the world group 87 species became extinct 0.1130 species of which an increase (24%) threatened with extinction, and in the Arabian Peninsula, 93 species of mammals, including 14 kinds recorded, and 12 species of mammals settling in the Arabian Peninsula, which have no place but this region include two  of bats, and one of the rabbits, and five of the rodents, and one of the carnivores and three parasites, all are exposed to the threats of overfishing and overgrazing has become extinct, some no longer exist, such as Asian  lions, Asian leopards, Saudi deer, zebra,. There are also 501 species of birds registered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 31 of which are threatened with extinction (globally and locally), and in the Kingdom more than 2250 species of herbs, including the existing 244, it is believed that 147 varieties of the latter species is endangered, and 574 endemic and endangered species. He stressed that all human activities that lead to an increase or adding  material or new energy to the environment where this energy works or materials to endanger human life or health or living or welfare or natural sources of danger either directly or indirectly, stressing that the kingdom grows quickly and develops in various fields, but the acceleration of the pace of development with the ignorance of the environmental affect studies  could lead to negative effects  that are difficult to correct  regarding biodiversity.
The second paper (sea pollution) was presented by Khalid Al sheikh (of Saudi Wildlife Committee, too) said that the sea environment of great importance in the ecosystem of the vitality, it is featured by contact  of its parts a free naturally contact that allows interaction and influence among its parts, sea environment has a prominent role in achieving climate balance, through a high degree of  heat at the surface and the coldness at the bottom, which enables it to absorb a large amount of sunlight reaching the earth, and then evaporates part of this water into the atmosphere by the rising wind, collecting them as clouds hurtling toward land causing rain that is representing  a water source to other species on land. He added that the sea environment is a source of food for humans and the rest of the other species, that it contains huge amounts of different types of high nutritional value of sea life is the most important fish. Also it is considered as a source of important industries and a major transportation, and medical drugs could be extracted from the sea environment, sea environment is also considered the first national income in some countries. From here, the sea pollution is a threat to food security and the economy in general, explaining that
sea pollution is a change in the natural balance of the sea, which may lead to endangering human health at risk and damaging of the biological treasures and plants and sea animals and the reduction of sea entertainment  or may lead to disability of other sea legitimate uses, that comes according to nutrition and Agriculture Organization conference held in Rome 1970  about human inputting  materials in the  se  environment that could cause harmful results like harming the biological treasures and the human health and disturbing sea activities including fishing and corrupting seawater
He stressed that enormous amounts of pollutants resulting from human activities due to industrial mutations and massive inflation and attrition unjust natural resources of the population these pollutants are considered the most damaging to the sea environment, and enters in this list (oil pollution, sanitation pollution , biodiversity pollution, pollution and industrial waste and thermal pollution, contamination with chemicals, and contamination with heavy metals, and radioactive contamination, and noise pollution. He concluded by saying that 80% of sea pollution is due to human activities. At the end speakers have been honored   .
It is worth to be mentioned that the workshop be  is held within the Committee for Environmental activities in the Chamber.
