10 experts discussing the challenges of managing the family business

Under the patronage of Chairman of the Capital Market Authority Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Tuwaijri who will launch the events of (Forum of Corporate Governance in Family Businesses) organized by Asharqia Chamber in cooperation with the Institute of Directors of the GCC under the patronage of Chairman of the Capital Market Authority on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Chamber headquarter in Dammam.
During the Forum, the Executive Director of SEDCO Dr. Adnan Al-Soufi will discuss the regulatory frameworks in family businesses ,as Ameen Nasser from Price Waterhouse Coopers in the United Arab Emirates will tackle the topic of how to deal with challenges faced by the boards of family businesses based on information obtained through the company's survey conducted on family businesses .. Session will be headed by the Director of McKinsey & Company in the Middle East, Kito De Boer.
On the other hand,Ahmed Al- Sheikh the Head of Corporate Governance in the Capital Market Authority and Dr Abdulaziz Al-Qasim, and Dr. Jones Brosque from the Office of Allen & Overy will discuss the legal requirements for the application of corporate governance in family businesses.
In this regard the Head of the Institute of Directors of the GCC, Dr. Abdullah Al-Abdulqader said that (Forum of corporate governance in family business), will review new family business trends towards openness and rejection of old policies that favor more secure, which will be paid to the great strides in the future and invites them to achieve this success applying the principles of corporate governance and transparency in the management to get excellent results.
Chairman of Asharqia Chamber Abdulrahman bin Rashid Al Rashid who explained that forum will highlights the importance of governance of family businesses, and its economic and legal impact also its mechanism.
Forum also will discuss several challenges faced by the boards of directors in family businesses and analyzing the impact of governance on the family businesses activity, studying the economic importance of family businesses in the Kingdom, along with reviewing the experiences of some countries and make use of them in the application of governance.
