Voltage Unification for houses in the Kingdom to 220 volts
Eng. AlBarak stresses: There will no electricity disruption this summer due to generating lack
Eng Ali AlBarrak, CEO of Saudi Electricity Company, announced that the project of voltage divert used in the houses from 110 volts to 220 volts reached the final stages of preparation.
AlBarrak said: The issuance of such decision, which will be supported and directed to take international orientation and consolidation of electrical voltage force in the Kingdom is 127 220 to 230 400 volts, will bring numerous positive impacts on all industrial, commercial and residential sectors and will ease pressure on power plants, pointing out that the mechanism proposed for the application of this new system, if agreed, will direct the continuation of the old system in all new neighborhoods with the continuation of the old connections existing in old plans, and work if possible on a gradual shift to the new system, leading to the total elimination of effort 127 volts.
It is known that such voltage change to the new system will reduce the prices of electrical prices, in addition to many advantages, including: avoid accidents and home fires, costreduction in the consumption of transformers, and other inputs that increase the cost of electricity use.

AlBarrak during his visit to the 10th generating station in Riyadh yesterday, had renews his promises that the company will limit the power outages this summer this year, and the Kingdom's cities will not experience any interruptions in service due to lack of generation, with the entry of new services, before the summer, which in turn will contribute in the generating increase with rates not more than seven thousand megawatts.
The Executive Chairman of the Saudi Electricity Company, confirmed that the company is working to provide a large part of standby power has through the provision of 7 percent this year, to be received in the coming years with the completion of the draft plan to 12 per cent, and specifically by the year 2014.
AlBarrak noted that the company re-examine its strategy in light of the significant challenges faced by the provision of electricity and of limited income of the company toward the increase demand of electrical energy, which exceeded an average of 8 per cent annually, as well as the increasing population growth in the Kingdom, such move came to meet the needs of the significant growth and expansion in the use of electricity.
Referring to the company role in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and electricity are working to spread an awareness message on the provision of electricity consumption through the media and schools. He also explained that the Saudi Electricity Company has re-structured the Administrative organization chart to convert some work units to companies which are owned by the company.
AlBarrak noted that the company has several generation projects under construction inter-reliant with Central and Eastern networks, western and southern networks will enter the service in this year and next year, with a total capacity of 12 thousand megawatts, as there are projects that will be granted for the coming years after arranging the necessary financing of their overall capacity about six thousand megawatts.
