Prince Sultan bin Salman, head of the Saudi Commission for tourism and antiquities, head of the Supervisory Committee of the national program of exhibitions and conferences announced the start of the program activity in Sunday. The program, which was approved by the Council of Ministers in the month of Rajab this year begins on Sunday, after the time of the Board's decision that the establishment of a Supervisory Committee under the chairmanship of the head of the Saudi Commission for tourism and antiquities, the membership of a number of government agencies and representatives from the private sector, and the transfer of responsibility from the Standing Committee for exhibitions and conferences in the Ministry of trade and industry to the national program of exhibitions conferences and its supervision after 90 days of the decision.
Prince Sultan expressed his appreciation for Dr. Tawfig Alrabiah, Minister of trade and industry and Ministry staff to the effort made by the Ministry of trade and industry during the last period in the service for exhibitions and conferences sector, continuing during the period of establishment of the program, up to 90 days in the management sector and for providing licensing services and cooperation in the transition program, adding that it will build on the efforts of the Ministry and organizations of this sector, keep up with the best regional and global experiences in this area. The program represents a new start for one of the most promising economic tracks and is expected to have a significant impact on the development of the economies of the regions, and to provide job opportunities for citizens, as well as to stimulate economic growth and promote jobs in tourist accommodation facilities and support services, at a time of growing interest in this activity has become the tools of choice for trade and the adoption of many neighboring markets on events for the strong Saudi economy and the strong demand from citizens for exhibitions and conferences.
The program will work on achieving a number of objectives including the development for existing statutory conditions to encourage investments in sector fairs and conferences in the Kingdom, and the development of companies , centers and towns for exhibitions and conferences with the private sector and relevant agencies to strengthen the capacity of the Kingdom events organization and high quality information to investors and beneficiaries, and the measurement of the economic impact resulting from the Convention and exhibition sector, providing employment opportunities, development of national human resources, One of the main sources of support in the sector of fairs and conferences, in addition to the Organization of support services, and attract outstanding exhibitions and conferences contribute to the development of economic and service sectors in the Kingdom and the visibility of the Kingdom at the regional and international levels. Prince Sultan said that the conferences and exhibitions in the kingdom carries everything to occupy, and promises to be an engine for development, but it still needs a lot of organization and development, investment in facilities and infrastructure, through the national program of exhibitions and conferences in coordination with government agencies and the private sector.
TheCouncil of Ministers approved at its meeting, held on 17/6/- June 27 (May), 2013, under the chairmanship of King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz ,to transform the Standing Committee for exhibitions and conferences as the ' national program for exhibitions and conferences', aims at developing and organizing conferences and exhibition , and working to increase productivity and effectiveness, and to ensure that the Supervisory Committee for the program has licensing mechanisms for exhibitions, conferences, where to be held and controlled.
