Saudi Arabia has bought 550,000 tonnes of hard wheat of Canadian origin, the first shipment of which will reach the kingdom in December, a senior grains authority official said on Sunday."The kingdom has secured the fourth and the last (purchase) of imported wheat this year. It was hard wheat of Canadian origin and weighed 550,000 tonnes," the official from the state-run Grain Silos & Flour Mills Organisation (GSFMO) told Reuters.
A wide range of origins were expected to compete for this big Saudi wheat tender, but traders said the euro's high value would hamper European bids, reports Reuters.
