Asharqia Chamber celebrates the 70th anniversary of its establishment
His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, sponsored the celebration of the Asharqia Chamber on Sunday evening, December 5, 2021 AD, with the participation of decision-makers and business leaders in the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its founding. The ceremony began with a tour of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, in the historical digital photo exhibition accompanying the ceremony, the owner on his tour, the President of the Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, and many officials and leaders of economic work in the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf region Through it, His Highness was briefed on the history of the Asharqia Chamber since its establishment in 1952 AD, at the request of His Highness, Prince of the Eastern Province at the time, Prince Saud bin Jalawi, to Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed Al-Gosaibi, the first Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, through a documentary presentation of pictures of its first buildings, all the way to its current building and tower. Investment and His Highness expressed his admiration for the exhibition and its digital historical presentation documenting the beginnings, the present, and the future.
The ceremony also included a presentation of a documentary film that reviewed the seventy years of the Asharqia Chamber’s life, and the challenges it faced in growth and development, and developments related to the story of the economic advancement of the Eastern Region since the discovery of oil and the subsequent expansion in commercial and industrial businesses, leading to the Kingdom’s vision of 2030 and how the Chamber dealt with its goals and aspirations diversification of the country's economic base.
His Highness, the Prince of the Eastern Province, said that the Asharqia Chamber has become present in the memory and chronicled a development process full of giving and achievements, which the Kingdom has gone through, and in the heart of it is the Eastern Province. His Highness stressed that the Chamber would not have occupied such a great position in shaping the economic mind of the people of the region, except by taking over its administration since its inauguration.
His Highness affirmed the support of the wise leadership, "may God protect her", to all means of promoting growth and development, and the progress made in implementing its contents over the past years, stressing the importance of redoubling efforts to complete the steps to achieve this vision.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asharqia Chamber, Mr. Abdul Hakim Al-Ammar, presented a tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, and His Highness also honored His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Commerce, Dr. Iman bint Habbas Al-Mutairi, to the sponsors of the ceremony, and a memorial photo was taken of the former chairmen and members of the boards of directors. The Deputy Minister of Commerce, Dr. Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi, said in her speech during the ceremony on behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, that the Ministry of Commerce is honored to participate in the Asharqia Chamber’s celebration of its 70th anniversary, describing the Chamber as an ancient edifice that played economic roles. An important development in the eastern region, which is a major economic fortress and an important commercial center and a tourist and investment attraction area in which nature, terrain, and opportunities vary, calling on those in charge of the Chamber and businessmen and women to keep pace with changes and inventory opportunities and comparative advantages and invest them to return their good to the young men and women of the dear country.
Her Excellency thanked all those who worked with dedication and sincerity during the past decades, to contribute to the Asharqia Chamber in its constructive national role, and pointed out that the Chambers of Commerce, in general, are an essential part of the development of our national economy, and it has contributed and continues to enhance economic work and support the state's goals towards growth and sustainable development, And in light of the fundamental changes that the country is witnessing in the structure of the national economy, the chambers of commerce come as an effective communication tool between the business sector and government agencies and play an important role in empowering business leaders, advancing the commercial and economic environment in the Kingdom in various sectors, and addressing the challenges faced by the private sector.
The Chairman of the Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, during his speech at the ceremony, expressed his gratitude, thanks, and appreciation to His Royal Highness, Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Region, for sponsoring and honoring the ceremony on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Chamber The Eastern Province, which has become present in the region’s memory and a chronicler of its economic path and contemporary renaissance, and that it has a special impact in the hearts of the business sector among the people of the Eastern region, is combined with mentioning its name, the memory of its beginnings and the path of development and growth, and the inexhaustible values of giving, until it became a leading economic landmark of the region’s landmarks. The Eastern Province, and an integral part of its history, present, and future, its deep-rooted history provided it with solid foundations for structures and works, which enabled it, over its long history, and consistently and continuously to use reference standards concerned with comparing its performance with that of others, to maintain its prestigious position and strengthen it.
Al-Khalidi stressed that the Asharqia Chamber has a clear economic footprint, and its path is full of experiences, expertise, challenges, and achievements, from which parents draw from and the children draw from them today, pointing out that history records the Eastern Chamber’s achievements that tell its age the reality of development in the eastern region, and its interaction with economic variables and the comprehensive renaissance in The Kingdom was, and still is, a home for merchants and manufacturers who wrote the history of our national economy and its journey of growth and construction.
From the past to the present and the future, Al-Khalidi spoke about the Chamber’s role in the Vision 2030, saying that with the launch of the wise leadership – may God support it – the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 with its objectives and aspirations for growth and development, the Chamber was a good helper and proceeded according to its three objectives (a vibrant society, a prosperous economy, and an ambitious nation). And it launched its new strategy to keep pace with the aspirations and goals, and contributed to providing a developed and stimulating economic environment for business, and formed the awareness of the owners of establishments of all kinds about the vision and its targets in the various governorates of the region, and that it is continuing towards achieving its endeavors by transforming into a room with an effective and effective performance in the national economic system, according to strategic axes. Innovative additions in line with the needs and requirements of the future, based on strengthening wills and improving operational costs, while continuing to achieve the highest levels of quality and excellence by harmonizing modern administrative and organizational systems.
Al-Khalidi concluded his speech by saying that the Chamber has provided many diverse services and is still being provided for the sake of the national economy, in line with best practices locally and regionally, and has benefited from global experiences in various disciplines.
